In all the back and forth over Wisconsin, one of the main points of contention is the question of “Who makes more? Public workers or Private workers?”.

Let’s put that aside and say, for the sake of argument, public workers make more. Ok… and what? Conservatives never seem to get to the next part. So what if public workers make more? Is that really the end of the world? Who cares if the worker is public or private? It’s all just costs and revenues on a spreadsheet that has to be balanced by passing costs on to the consumer by raising prices or taxes. Of course, everyone knows or should know what conservatives are implying. But the right-wing can’t be explicit about it because it would expose them as greedy assholes even more than usual.
Unions provide an upward pressure on wages, and, evidently, that would be The Apocalypse or something. Every Serious Person knows that Business must have “flexible labor markets” above all else, or they will take their inherent greatness away from us lesser beings.
